Make a Difference by Volunteering with FONDAMU!

All the FONDAMU staff are volunteers, who are active in supporting the mission of the Mugangu Foundation - to provide microcredit to villagers, to build schools and social centres for raped women, to provide loving homes for orphaned and abandoned street children. Join us and help make a difference!

  • Do you want to give back to those in need? Do you want to help DR Congo orphans and abandoned children have brighter futures, a healthy and happy life?
  • Do you feel compassionate for women raped during the warfare in Eastern Congo?
  • Do you think microcredit initiatives can help improve the livelihood of the vulnerable poor after conflict in the Congo?

These volunteers are helping to build the FONDAMU office in Lukumbo, Walungu Territory, from which the efforts of many additional volunteers and cooperators will be coordinated.

Perhaps you have an entrepreneurial spirit, leadership skills or can assist as a great team player, or just have a good heart and want to do something to make a difference. Then FONDAMU staff are at your disposal and listening to you.

We are open to your creative ideas and will assist you in making your volunteering a successful and memorable experience. If you do not have a plan in place but really want to get involved, don't worry, we will work with you and provide you with the material and information you need.

These volunteers are gardening and have completed water canal drainage in the valley bottom of Cidorho, Walungu.

Here is a sample of some of volunteer initiatives that can help raise money for FONDAMU activities:

  • Tell your friends about FONDAMU and encourage them to visit our web pages
  • Organize a dinner at your church or community and send the proceeds to the Mugangu Foundation;
  • Host a party and collect donations to the Mugangu Foundation
  • Have a bake sale, yard sale, car wash, used book sale for the Mugangu Foundation
  • Request donations to FONDAMU instead of gifts for any occasion (birthdays, weddings, holidays, etc.)
  • Pass out flyers at your school, church, grocery store or gym
  • Plan some vacation time overseas in 2008 and beyond, in Sub-Saharan Africa, in volunteering with some of our sponsored activities in Eastern Congo and visiting the endangered lowland and mountain gorillas there. FONDAMU staff will be happy to welcome you and guide you through our activities and organise your biodiversity tour with mountain and lowland gorillas. Upon return to your home, give a talk about your experience in helping a child, a blind person or a woman who was raped in Eastern Congo
