Support the construction of a better school for the Ngweshe children

Today there are more than 40,000 orphaned children in Ngweshe Chiefdom in the east of DR Congo, more than 26,000 women were victims of rape during 13 years of recurrent warfare, at least 10,000 blind people, an estimated 50,000 widows who are head of households, and many children with HIV-AIDS. FONDAMU is working hard to provide foster families for the children, protecting them from abuse and exploitation, providing them with some education, leadership training, and entrepreneurship skills. For the women raped during warfare there are livelihood programs to first help them understand that they can build a good life despite the felony committed against them, and to help them become productive with revolving microcredit. Also there are social homes and centres designed to provide them with adult education, a craft, and a head start into entrepreneurship. These are proven ways to provide a way out of the rampant poverty in Ngweshe, Kivu Province, Congo in Sub-Saharan Africa. But all these activities need funding. You can make a difference for the vulnerable people in Ngweshe, the women victim of rape, and the orphaned children.

• $25 can help provide clothing for an orphaned child; or entrepreneurship skills and adult education
• $50 can give a child one quarter of schooling or a revolving microcredit to four women who were raped during the war
• $100 pays for medical care for an orphaned child or rape victim; and
• $300 feeds an orphaned child and her/his foster family for two months; or feeds a widow and her household for two months.
